Why We Don’t Use Real Mink for Our Lashes?

Real Mink lashes are so popular for lash extensions and regular or magnetic false lashes. It comes from animal fur and like human hair, it has all the characteristics and quality of organic hair. If you put it under a microscope, it looks like a tube filled with keratin (pigment) and covered with tiny hair scales outside. It feels and looks like human lash, light and natural, the primary reason why it is so popular.

Animal Cruelty Issues

Mink lashes we see on the market today are mostly claim to be Siberian mink, but actually there aren’t that many mink farms in Siberia growing Siberian mink. Most of the mink farms today are scattered around Hebei province in China and North America where the condition for the animals is harsh and cruel. Hundreds of minks are captured, bred or raised on mink farms, and spend a lifetime trapped and cramped in wire cages with little room to move. Then they are killed by electrocution, bludgeoning, gassing, or neck-breaking, and their skin may be torn off while they’re still conscious. Whichever slaughter method is used, every mink ends up dead, skinned and discarded after the fur is taken for lashes or coat.

Many lash companies and businesses say their real mink lashes are cruelty-free and the mink animals are gently brushed for their fur or the fur is collected from their shedding. But due to the nature of mink animals which are territorial animals, they become aggressive if they feel threatened. Therefore it is not possible to be labelled as cruelty-free when they're still using mink fur.

We believe that to look beautiful, we shouldn’t harm or kill any living animals. We encourage you to look deeper into this industry and mink farming to choose alternatives to real mink fur lashes. You will be saving countless innocent lives by choosing the right thing to do.
